A tragic case of elder abuse and neglect has been reported in Dothan, Alabama. A helpless elderly woman was found with open wounds and wearing only an adult diaper, forced to beg for help. Police were called to the home on the 500 block of South St. Andrews Street and found the woman alone, crawling on the floor. The primary caregiver of the victim and her relative, Jason Allan Proctor, 37 years old, lived in the same residence and was subsequently arrested for elder abuse and neglect. It is unclear the age of the woman, but she had other medical maladies that were not being taken care of. The victim is now hospitalized and may need surgery. This unfortunate event is another reminder of the need to protect our elderly loved ones.

It is worth noting that similar cases have been reported across the country. In February, a man was arrested in Florida for kidnapping, elderly neglect, and abuse after neglecting his 91-year-old father and 82-year-old mother.
