Ben Carson Finally Breaks His Silence On VP Rumors

On Monday Dr. Ben Carson addressed rumors regarding his potential vice-presidential candidacy alongside former President Donald Trump. While Carson remained reticent about specific discussions with Trump, he highlighted their shared commitment to “saving this country.”

The former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development broke his silence on rumors linking him to the vice-presidential slot. While Carson remained guarded about specific conversations with Trump, he made his position clear: “I don’t want to talk about what we’ve talked about, but we’ve talked about what can we do to save this country, and that we will work together to make sure that America remains America.”

Dr. Carson expressed his deep concerns about the current state of American politics, likening some actions to those of authoritarian regimes. “These are things that occur in China and Russia and Cuba. Those are not things that are supposed to occur in this country. And we should be alarmed,” he stated.

When asked whether Trump’s support is growing within the black community, Carson responded emphatically, “Absolutely.” He went on to describe a noticeable change in the racial demographics at political gatherings, noting, “I used to go to places and be the only black face. Not anymore, not by a long shot.”

Carson credited the Trump administration’s policies for this shift in support. “The things that they enacted were extremely positive. The opportunity zones, HBCU support, all of these things were fantastic,” he remarked.

Despite the probing questions, Carson stopped short of confirming his involvement in any future Trump campaign. His comments, however, shed light on the ongoing discussions and strategic planning within the Republican Party as they gear up for the election cycle.

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Trump’s presidency, has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s policies, particularly in areas related to housing and urban development.

As of now, several potential candidates are being discussed as possible running mates for Trump in the 2024 Presidential election, although no official decision has been announced. The speculation includes a range of political figures, each bringing different strengths and attributes to the ticket. Some of the names being mentioned are:

  • Nikki Haley: The former governor and U.N. ambassador, Haley is considered for her extensive experience and potential appeal to women, moderates, independents, and disaffected Republicans. However, her previous criticism of Trump could be a hurdle.
  • Mike Pompeo: As the former CIA director and secretary of State, Pompeo has top-level governing experience and is seen as someone who could bring credibility and independence of thought.
  • Tim Scott: The senator from South Carolina is appreciated for his story and appeal. He’s seen as a potentially historic pick but his political skills are questioned.
  • J.D. Vance: The Ohio senator is seen as ideologically compatible with Trump, especially on economic populism.
  • Kristi Noem: The South Dakota governor is seen as a strong Trump supporter and could appeal to suburban women voters.
  • Elise Stefanik: A younger choice, Stefanik has risen in House leadership and has been a loyal ally to Trump.
