Huang Ping of Jinxi, China, who lives with his grandson, now lives in the middle of a soon-to-be busy road. To access his home, Ping has to travel through a large pipe to get to his front door. "If I could turn back time, I would agree to the demolition conditions they offered. Now it feels like I lost a big bet. I regret it a bit," he said. Ping says his house sometimes vibrates from the ongoing work. The homeowner's roof is almost level with two lanes of the road. His house is also now a tourist attraction.
