House Judiciary Committee Launches Investigation into Former FBI Agent Indicted for Money Laundering and Collusion with Russian Oligarch

The House Judiciary Committee, led by Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Jordan and Gaetz are demanding a briefing from FBI Director Christopher Wray to discuss the FBI’s investigation into McGonigal, its review of procedures and protocols, and the national security risk posed by McGonigal’s actions. The indictment of McGonigal raises new questions about the FBI’s counterintelligence efforts during his time at the bureau, the lawmakers said. Jordan and Gaetz have set a deadline of Feb. 16 for the briefing and documents to be turned over.
