On Monday, “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart candidly opened up about her personal health journey. Diagnosed with alopecia, a condition leading to significant hair loss, Reinhart courageously opened up about her struggles on social media.

Her announcement was made through a TikTok video, captioned “Red light therapy is my new best friend. #alopecia #mentalhealth.”

Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), has been explored as a potential treatment for various conditions, including alopecia (hair loss). The therapy uses red low-level wavelengths of light to treat skin issues, such as wrinkles, scars, and persistent wounds, and in some cases, it has been used to stimulate hair growth.

For alopecia, the idea behind red light therapy is that the light can penetrate the scalp and stimulate hair follicles, potentially promoting hair growth. This is believed to work by increasing blood flow in the scalp and stimulating the metabolism in catagen or telogen follicles, resulting in the production of anagen hair.

Aside from acting, Reinhart has expanded her career into writing. She published a book of poetry titled “Swimming Lessons: Poems,” which explores themes of young love, anxiety, depression, fame, and heartbreak.

Throughout her career, she has been nominated for and won several awards, primarily for her performance in “Riverdale.” She continues to be an influential figure in the entertainment industry, both for her acting work and her advocacy efforts.

The response to Reinhart’s news has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans and fellow alopecia sufferers offering words of encouragement and sharing their own experiences. Other celebrities, like Jada Pinkett Smith, have also been vocal about their experiences.
