Why Newsom Recall Candidate List Features 41 Names, and Excludes Larry Elder

Published

on

The Secretary of State for California has publicized a preliminary list of forty one candidates who have qualified to run in the oncoming September’s special recall election  to oust incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom.

This preliminary list (pdf) published on the day, July 17, will be followed by a final, certified list to be released on July 21. Included on the list are twenty one (21)Republicans, eight (8) Democrats, one (1) Libertarian, nine (9) independents, and two (2) Green Party members. A name not on the list is that of GOP hopeful Larry Elder, who is also an author and contributor to The Epoch Times. He joined the race on July 12.

Larry Elder shared the letter from  Secretary of State, California, Shirley Weber noting he wasn’t qualified as a candidate due to  “incomplete redacted and/or unredacted income tax returns.” In a statement, Elder said his campaign filed “over two hundred pages of five years of tax returns,” while in another statement, he has “adhered with all necessary requirements to be a qualified candidate.”

“Politicians know I’m the only candidate who will beat Gavin Newsom—and that’s why they don’t want me on the ballot,” he wrote, accusing the elections officials of “using shenanigans which they invented to obstruct the doors to the Governor’s Office, to ensure they continue to stay in power.”

Elder firmly added that, if the Secretary of State does not upturn the decision to exclude him from the list of qualified candidates, he may file a lawsuit.

A campaign spokeswoman of Elder, Ying Ma said in a release to The Associated Press that she expects his name to be on the final list.
“Our campaign submitted every document required by the Secretary of State and the Los Angeles County Registrar,”  she added.

Sept. 14 has been announced as the date for the recall of the election earlier this month by Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, a Democrat, who also posited the election would cost not less than $276 million.

Congressional Democrats Attack Auditor, Cyber Ninjas; Worried Over The Outcome Of The Audit

Published

on

Congressional Democrats with the responsibility of leading the House Oversight and Reform Committee have opened a critical probe into the Arizona “audit” firm “Cyber Ninjas.” The firm is conducting an audit of Maricopa County’s ballots following the 2020 election and had conducted the hotly contested review of the ballots.

Democratic Reps. Carolyn Maloney, the committee chair, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, in a Wednesday letter, requested documents and communications from Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan proceedings from the company’s audit that rendered voting machines in the state suspicious and useless. The letter allegedly mentions Logan over his firm’s “lack of election audit experience,” their “reported mismanagement of the audit in Maricopa County,” and his (Logan)”own bias and history of allegedly welcoming conspiracy theories related to the election.”

“The Committee is seeking to determine whether the privately funded audit conducted by your company in Arizona protects the right to vote or is instead an effort to promote baseless conspiracy theories, undermine confidence in America’s elections, and reverse the result of a free and fair election for partisan gain,” Maloney and Raskin posited in the nine-page letter. They also said that the Committee is specifically concerned that the firm’s actions could undermine the alleged integrity of federal elections and interfere with Americans’ constitutional right to cast their votes freely and to have them counted.”

A Republican Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, part of the House Oversight Committee, responding to the letter, suggested on Twitter that the audit was making Democrats “worried” due to its effectiveness. “Now congressional Democrats are trying to insert themselves into a state election issue. They seem very worried about something,” he stated.

Fann formerly stated that Cyber Ninjas had told the congress that they would report on the total cost of the operation after the audit is complete and that they would comply all with federal reporting requirements.
