British zoologist Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance reportedly worked in cooperation with scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) on “enhanced airborne coronaviruses” that they were preparing to distribute to “Chinese bat populations” for the purpose of innoculation shortly before the pandemic began, according to The Daily Wire
The group of scientists also allegedly pursued financial assistance from the U.S. for the creation of “chimeric viruses”, which are described to be “genetically enhanced to infect humans more easily.”
In a series of leaked grant proposals, that have been reportedly authenticated by a former U.S. official show that the research and search for funding go back as far as 2018.
“New documents show that just 18 months before the first Covid-19 cases appeared, researchers had submitted plans to release skin-penetrating nanop articles containing ‘novel chimeric spike proteins’ of bat coronaviruses into cave bats in Yunnan, China,” The Telegraph
The foreign periodical added “Papers, confirmed as genuine by a former member of the Trump administration, show they were hoping to introduce ‘human-specific cleavage sites’ to bat coronaviruses which would make it easier for the virus to enter human cells.”
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is said to have been the department of the U.S. government that Daszak sent his request for $14 million to, in hopes of providing a boost to the research of the coronavirus.
The proposal was rejected by DARPA, warning that it was “clear that the proposed project led by Peter Daszak could have put local communities at risk.”
The Telegraph reported that Daszak and his associates did not appropriately account for the potential dangers of their experiment.
It was also pointed out that Daszak had been vocal in deflecting blame away from the pandemic starting from a Chinese lab. He was responsible for organizing a collection of signatures from scientists, that while also having connections to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, believed that it was unrealistic that the pandemic stemmed from the research there. The signatures were submitted to and posted in a popular medical journal titled “Lancet”.
The research was “clearly a gain of function, engineering the cleavage site and polishing the new viruses to enhance human cell infectibility in more than one cell line.” said Professor of Oncology at St Georges, University of London, Angus Dalgleish.
Members of Parliament have also spoken out about their frustrations in response to the new report. Viscount Ridley, a member of the House of Lords stated; “For more than a year I tried repeatedly to ask questions of Peter Daszak with no response.”
“Now it turns out he had authored this vital piece of information about virus work in Wuhan but refused to share it with the world. I am furious. So should the world be. Peter Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) proposed injecting deadly chimeric bat coronaviruses collected by the Wuhan Institute of Virology into humanized and ‘batified’ mice, and much, much more.” added the politician.
The Telegraph spoke to a COVID-19 researcher employed by the World Health Organization who said that it was “scary” that scientists were attempting to intentionally develop “infectious chimeric MERS viruses.”
The researcher, who preferred to keep their identity a secret, said to The Telegraph; “These viruses have a fatality rate over 30 percent, which is at least an order of magnitude more deadly than Sars-CoV-2,”
“If one of their receptor replacements made MERS spread similarly while maintaining its lethality, this pandemic would be nearly apocalyptic.” they warned.
