The Senate Banking Committee has requested that Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, appear before it to discuss the collapse of the exchange.
If he does not voluntarily appear, the committee will consider issuing a subpoena to compel his testimony. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), who are the chair and ranking member of the committee respectively, have written a public letter to Bankman-Fried stating that FTX’s collapse has caused real financial harm to consumers and has had an impact on other parts of the crypto industry.
